Intermediate 7 / 8 (Grades 7 & 8)
Ballet
Ballet is a classical dance form demanding grace and precision. Ballet is the key ingredient of a dancer’s training. It increases body awareness, posture, strength and balance. It also teaches the dancer focus, discipline and determination.
Dancewear Requirements
Hair: A proper bun (secured with bobby pins and a hair net) is required
Attire:
Girls: Black bodysuit, wrap skirt (optional), ballet convertible tights.
Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts
Shoes:
Girls: Pink ballet shoes
Boys: Black leather ballet shoes
Jazz
Jazz dance is commonly taught in dance schools and performed by dance companies around the world. It continues to be an essential element of musical theatre choreography, where it may be interwoven with other dance styles as appropriate for a particular show. Jazz is designed to give students technique and style integrated with developing flexibility, strength, and a sense of musicality.

Contemporary
Contemporary dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. This dance style provides a great escape for dancers. It allows the dancer to interpret the music and let their body tell the story.

Hip Hop
Hip Hop dance refers to dance styles primarily danced to hip hop music or that have evolved as part of hip hop culture. This includes a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, popping, and krumping.

Attire: Active wear such as sweatpants, leggings, t-shirt (no jeans), or fitted dancewear
Shoes: Clean indoor running shoes
Acro
Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance techniques with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character and its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics. It provides dancers with strength, flexibility, and increases their overall athleticism.

Tap
Tap is one of the oldest American art forms. It arose from a huge melting pot of ideas, customs, music and dance styles. With the exception of Spanish dance, it is the only field that incorporates the element of sound. Tap is the best way to enhance co-ordination, rhythm, and musical understanding.

Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is a combination of dance, acting and song. This class consists of vocal training, jazz technique, dramatic games and auditioning skills. Musical theatre training is an asset to a dancer as it broadens their talents making them a triple threat.
