Junior 1/2 (Grades 1 & 2)

Ballet

Ballet is a classical dance form demanding grace and precision. Ballet is the key ingredient of a dancer’s training. It increases body awareness, posture, strength and balance. It also teaches the dancer focus, discipline and determination.

 

Dancewear Requirements

Hair: A proper bun (secured with bobby pins and a hair net) is required.

Attire: 
Girls: Black bodysuit, wrap skirt (optional), ballet convertible tights.
Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts

Shoes: 
Girls: Pink leather ballet shoes
Boys: Black leather ballet shoes

 

Ballet/Tap

This 1-hour combo class includes 30 minutes of tap and 30 minutes of ballet. Tap class is excellent for training a dancer’s rhythm and musicality and ballet class provides young dancers with a strong technical foundation.

Acro / Jazz

This class is a combination of Jazz & Acro. Dancers take 30 minutes of acro and 30 minutes of jazz. Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance techniques with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character and its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics. It provides dancers with strength, flexibility, and increases their overall athleticism.

 

Dancewear Requirements

Hair: Tied up off the neck and face.

Attire: 
Girls: Black bodysuit, black dance shorts, light tan stir-up tights
Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts

Shoes: 
Girls & Boys: Bare feet

 

Hip Hop

Hip Hop dance refers to dance styles primarily danced to hip hop music or that have evolved as part of hip hop culture. This includes a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, popping, and krumping.

 

Dancewear Requirements

Hair: Tied up off the neck and face.

Attire: 
Active wear such as sweatpants, leggings, t-shirt  (no jeans), or fitted dancewear

Shoes: 
Clean indoor running shoes
